Winter Photo Shoot 09/10 Darrell has produced our latest winter 09/10 collection, based on the idea that he had of beautiful chic women with the theme based on ‘Keeping it British’ and shooting outside. The shoot was shot on location at ‘Hotel on the Park’ Cheltenham & also in the stunning park opposite. Luckily the weather held out & we had the most beautiful autumn day for the shoot & everything went without a hitch. A massive thank you to everyone for their time and energy that day! Our Stylists for the shoot and naturally formed Art-Team consisted of Joanne Gossage, Louise Worthington & Ben Colabella who worked alongside 4 professional models. Two of the models flew in from Europe for the shoot and one of the models was our very own Natalie Evans who did absolutely amazing on the day! We now have hundreds of great shots from the shoot and you will start to see these featured in our new winter 09/10 advertising!

Jessica Dunn auditions for 'Britain's Got Talent!' We just wanted to say a huge well done to Jessica Dunn for auditioning in Cardiff in October for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. Jessica along with 3 others from her dance group went along to audition her skills with ‘Lindy Hop’ dancing. Lindy Hop has now become a name in dance that people recognise, this is thanks to programmes on the BBC such as Strictly Dance Fever which has made Lindy Hop a compulsory dance for it's competitors. Jessica will find out at the end of January if she has been successful in reaching the next stages. Well done Jess, we are all rooting for you & will all be there to support you if you get through!!!

Meet our Face of Gloucestershire 2009 winners! There were tears of joy and shrieks of delight at GL1 on Saturday as the Face of Gloucestershire reached its exciting finale. Powerlifting champion Joe Ballinger was crowned the new male Face of Gloucestershire and student Samantha Swinford, 18, from Hucclecote, was crowned the female winner. Samantha, who finished her A levels this year, is now taking a year out to pursue a modelling career. She said: "I wanted to show a size 10 or 12 can be beautiful and that you can achieve just as much as a skinny model." Joe, 19, from Winchcombe, has seen his year go from strength to strength after emerging victorious at the grand finale of the competition. The glitzy evening, which had a ‘Fashion Rocks’ theme, saw main sponsors Blushes showcasing their cutting-edge hair design and Rah Productions choreographing the show. Beat boxing sensation Duke entertained the audience with dance group Sculpture Motion. One of the four judges, Paul Swaby, from Rah Productions, said: “As always people have caught my eye this year. The winners have most definitely got a future in modelling.”

Dozens of young men and women seeking a career on the catwalk gathered for a photoshoot for the Face of Gloucestershire 2009 competition. The modelling competition turned an empty unit in the retail complex into a glamorous studio and lounge bar for one night only. Contestants who had either registered online in advance or entered on the spur of the moment enjoyed showing off some moves on the dance-floor and striking their best pose for professional photographer John Moore of Two Front Teeth. More than 150 men and women aged between 18 and 30 have entered this year’s competition.

The Face of Gloucestershire 2009 - The First Photoshoot Blushes Gloucester EXCITEMENT was in the air and champagne was in the glasses as hopefuls turned out to the first photoshoot of the Face of Gloucestershire 2009. Now in its second year, the Gloucestershire Media-run competition is back, with more sponsors on board and with plenty of eager hopefuls inspired by the success of last year’s winners Lauren McDonnell and Warren Phillips. The first shoot was held at the Blushes salon in Westgate Street, Gloucester on Wednesday. Young hopeful Jenna Kenny was among the first in line for the shoot. The 18-year-old from Gloucester said it was a childhood dream to become a model and she hopes to be in running for first prize which is a year on the books of London based modeling agency, Rah productions. Teri Lyne, of Apero Events who have organised the competition on behalf of Gloucestershire Media said she was thrilled to be launching the competition again after its huge first year. She said: “It was such a success in 2008 and we were really hoping it would kick off and become an annual event, so to be here again a year on is fantastic and I can’t believe it’s been a year since we started it. “I think the appeal to the participants is the chance that they could actually win the modelling contract, and with regards to last year’s winner Lauren, it’s changed her life. “She’s moved to London and that’s what she does for a living now, she’s a model, and that’s a dream for so many people in the age bracket we’re targeting.” Blushes Marketing and PR Manager Claire Thomas echoed Teri’s excitement. She said: “It’s fantastic to be involved again. The Beards Glamour in Gloucestershire Ball in aid of Hop, Skip & Jump Cotswold The Beards Glamour in Gloucestershire Ball 2009 was held in the prestigious Gold Cup & Festival Suite at the Cheltenham Racecourse to support the vital work undertaken by Hop, Skip & Jump Cotswold. Hosted by the President of the Charity, Elizabeth Hurley, an auction and Tropical Fashion Show featuring outfits from the Elizabeth Hurley beach collection, managed to raise £60,000.00 on the night for the charity. Blushes were on hand to style the models hair on the day. The models wore super-glamorous Jimmy Choo shoes, large sunglasses, Heidi-Klein spray on tans & Elizabeth Hurley Beach Collection. The Hop, Skip & Jump play and support centre is in the village of Seven Springs, Nr Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Founded in 1982, it provides day care facilities and supervised play for children and young people with physical, emotional and learning disabilities. The centre has been built with the generous support of private individuals, trusts and companies from all over England. Central Saint Martins MA Show 2009 - L’Oréal Professionnel Fashion Design Award - London Fashion Week The Central Saint Martins MA Fashion Show took place at the BFC Tents during London Fashion Week and showcased the work of seventeen designers before a packed audience. L’Oréal Professionnel invited Angelo Seminara from Trevor Sorbie to create the hair look for the show and direct a L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio team. Blushes stylists Rachel Brown, Ben Colabella & Gemma McNamee were part of the team styling hair for the show. Vogue Shoot March 2009 Blushes were recently asked by Loreal to take part in a photo shoot for Vogue magazine, March 09 edition. Mark Blake & Rachel Brown styled the hair on the day with the main inspiration for the shoot being the French Riviera. Hair colours were a mixture of cool or warm blonde highlights. The hair styles were loose and natural waves which were loosely pinned back. Clothes were mainly stripes, whites and blues with splashes of colour, sunglasses and long gold necklaces keeping in with the French Riviera look. Look out for it in Vogue March 2009 edition.

Client Appreciation Evening December 2007 We recently held our Client Appreciation Evening once again at our Cheltenham Salon as a huge thankyou to our Clients for their continued loyalty & custom throughout the year. This was our chance to share with everyone upcoming trends in fashion & make-up, along with fantastic Christmas gift ideas from Gusto, Neal’s Yard, Armed & Gorgeous & Jilly's Lingerie. Michelle Blake was on hand to give inspiration & fashion advice with a fashion show promoting clothing by Jigsaw & Karen Millen. A series of hair extension demonstrations were carried out throughout the evening also. Champagne, wines and canapés were enjoyed by all and there were also some unique raffle prizes to be won on the night. In addition, all of the proceeds from the raffle were donated to the National Star College in Cheltenham, in which £500 was raised for our dedicated charity of the evening.

Blushes Bi-Annual Staff Trip - Prague April 2007 Blushes hit Prague for their bi-annual staff trip away. Everyone had a fantastic time shopping, sight seeing and of course celebrating. Luckily we had no casualties this time, unlike Barcelona when Heidi came back in a wheelchair! It was a great place to visit and as you will see from the picture it definitely wasn’t a quiet time!

Michelle hits Cannes! - July 2005 We are proud to be able to report to you that Michelle Blake was recently asked to launch her brand new concepts at the Cannes Film Festival Hall to L’Oréal International. It continues to be Michelle’s responsibility of pushing the boundaries of colour knowledge forward for L’Oréal International. Michelle presented to an audience of 4000 people from all over the world and her presentation was translated to the audience by over 20 translators.
