In the Press: The Salon Magazine

A massive thank you to The Salon Magazine for featuring us in their October 2021 Issue on The Blushes Collective and the industry-changing progress we’ve made on the back of Covid-19. Alongside a fresh new look and feel, we’ve brought in a whole host of positive new changes for both our teams and our salon portfolio moving forward including our new 6-month Training Academy, our multi-employment model and our Coaches not Managers structure.

At Blushes they like to nurture a learn-it-all rather than a know-it-all culture. As with any industry, innovation to products and techniques are inevitable so there’s always going to be something new for professionals to learn about. On top of that there’s cultural hair and beauty trends that are driven from all areas of life we draw inspiration from - fashion, films, celebrities music etc.”

The Salon Magazine

We created a Coaches not Managers initiative which brings our salon structure into a more contemporary working culture by moving away from an old school, hierarchical system and instead focus on nurturing a community of people led by mentors. Information sharing between team members is so important to creating a culture of growth within our salons. Some people may thrive in one area where others may not and to us, that’s ok.

Our commitment to continual training and education for our teams is shown through our innovation, it’s important for us to keep our fingers on the pulse and keep upskilling ourselves.

“Knowledge is incredibly empowering, it really boosts peoples confidence in themselves and their own ability. So continuing to feed that desire to learn through additional training really allows our stylists to evolve”

We’re also known for encouraging careers beyond the chair. You could join The Blushes Collective as a hairdresser but if you have other career plans, move into the Marketing team to do some epic Social Media. Or even enter a Blushes salon as a Receptionist and progress onto the Board of Directors. Seriously…the proof is in the pudding.

Reflecting on the employment landscape during and post Covid-19 we knew that people were craving more flexibility with their working schedule and so we developed the opportunity to offer multi-employment. We now offer our people the chance to be self-employed, or employed by one of our salons with the freedom to design their own working schedule enabling our team to have a better work-life balance.

We found that by introducing a set of wholesome habits that we could close the gap between career paths that have traditionally existed in isolation of each other. By pledging to change the way we work within hair, team members can now explore multi-employment options too.

“It’s cheesy but your vibe really does attract your tribe so marketing our innovations, investment in training and commitment to our people (team and clients) fuels a positive growth cycle.”
