5 Festive Hair Looks From our Worcester Hairdressers

Last year we were left bereft of our party season, so you can bet we’re going all in this year, and to us- that starts with hair. Big, bold, loud and proud. Our Worcester salon team have put their favourite party looks together to get you ready for the festive season ahead. Throwing caution to the wind, we’re going full blown maximalism.

70’s Blowout

Bigger is better! Sometimes you just want to create the most striking look possible, and you will be pleased to know that 70s hairstyles are back in fashion! Channel your inner Adele (that Vogue cover shoot) You can easily create that big bouncy 70’s volume blow-dry from home, perfect for a dressed-up evening or special day, with just a couple of tips. To create this style, liberally spritz L’Oreal PLI throughout the mid-length to ends of your hair, blast it to 70% dry with your hairdryer and then simply pop in Velcro rollers. Easy to apply without a professional hand but still guarantee volume for days!

Slick Rick

As we mentioned, 2021 is bringing back all previous era’s fashion So with a nod to the 20’s, make like you’re in The Great Gatsby and slick it back. Whether your hair is short or long, a slicked back look is just the right amount of drama and shine. To get the side-slicked look, simply comb your hair back and to the side, using a gel for hold. For those who want to turn it up a notch - create a Megan Fox inspired wet look. Choose a parting, then with towel dried hair that’s been combed through apply gel and/or mousse and scrunch. Using a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment lightly circulate on a low speed setting the air around your head until your hair is around 40-50% dry and then leave. If you feel the need, add a little more gel or oil through the ends to contain frizz.

Acccessorize

Accessories are a great way to update a simple hairstyle - especially if you are going to be hitting those festive parties! Our hairdressers in Worcester recommend highlighting your beautiful bangs with a headband. For the daytime, you can opt for a velvet headband that will complement cosy winter looks, and by night pick up a gold statement headband that will look dazzling with any party outfit.

Riding High

Give us a hairstyle that’s more statement than a high ponytail, we’ll wait. Throwing it back to H.Biebs at the Met Gala 2019, oozing elegance with something that bears resemblance to Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. If your hair is mostly one length then once blowdried smooth, add a little gel into your palms and rub together, flip your head upside down and scoop into a high ponytail using a secure band. Once secure, add another more statement hair tie in over the top and using your straighteners create a simple flick in the end of the ponytail and voila- spritz with some hairspray and you’re good to go. If however, you want to create this look with bangs, then you should be looking at Bella Hadid's killer side fringe ponytail.

Return of the Chopstick

...And we’re not talking utensils here. Embracing natural curls has had somewhat of a resurgence the past 18 month after multiple lockdowns. However if you’re not naturally blessed with beautiful cork-screw curls, then fake it. This look is not for the faint-of-heart this is a labour intensive process, but it’s so worth it. Create stunning natural-looking curls that give you 80’s party vibes, with all the shine and bounce you could wish for using a chopstick wand. Prepare the hair with mousse and a thermal modelling spray to ensure maximum hold, blow dry with a paddle brush until all hair is smooth. Taking your hair into two sections, half up/half down, take 1cm sections of hair and wind round your wand. Once complete liberally spray with a medium hold hair spray and a touch of oil through the ends.

As you can see, winter hair can be anything but boring! Whether you want to get some new beautiful bangs cut for a chic style, frame your face with stylish layers, or are looking to go big with an Adele-inspired blowout, there is a winter hairstyle for every head.
