Blushes A/W 2021 Trend Predictions

We can comfortably say that summer has well and truly left the building *sobs* and we can now finally feel confident in zipping up those vacuum packed bags full of summer clothes, in favour of planning our Autumn/Winter wardrobe.

But don’t be throwing just everything from your summer collection in the bag, many summer staples can double up as layers for the cooler months and we will dish how!

As we were left bereft of our party season last year you can bet the trends this year are going to be loud, worn proud and we’re absolutely here for it.

In collaboration with MB Style Consultancy these are the Blushes A/W style predictions, and of course, with just a sprinkle of hair advice too!

Brown is the new black

Solo Saturation Brown this season is a big look. And we’re here for it. Not having to plan what colours to wear alongside your beautiful berry jumpers or trying to pair the right coloured shoes to wear with red? We’ll just wear brown, thanks. And head to toe.

Pinned as inspiration for this season, Pantone’s reddish, earthy shade of “Burnt Henna” strides through - warm colour palettes rejoice! However, for our cool palettes, “Downtown brown” is probably going to be more your speed with blue undertones.

If at this point you’re thinking, how on earth do I know whether I’m cool or warm toned and what does that mean for me? This would be a great time to come in and see us for a Hair ID- our unique consultation method will get to the heart of what suits you, from hair cut and colour to clothing colours, tones and where in your outfit to wear them.

It all begins with you, your skin tone, your eye colour and facial architecture.

Let Blushes Tetbury (or one of our other salons) create a match for you with Hair ID

Cut it Out

One trend that isn’t just passing through, it’s firmly here to stay is all forms of cut outs. A cold shoulder, a stringed waist, a bit of A-symmetry here and there- we’re all for it and we’re not ready to pack it away just yet. Team underneath a two piece oversized suit to show off the detail, or opt for co-ord sets that cover up a little more than they reveal, putting your best style foot forward but without freezing to death!

return of the suit

The allure of the suit is strong this year, having worn very little but “comfies” to “work” for the last year or so for most of us we’re desperate to get ourselves back into the tailored formality of suits. But not as you know it, the suits are bigger, bolder and brighter than you’re average office set! For a more off-duty look, pair just a waistcoat or a (“vest” if you will), with a matching trouser before the temperatures plummet!

XXL Knits

Knitwear on steroids. No longer is knitwear something to throw on at home prior to the socially accepted month to put the heating on, the demand for luxe knitwear is reflected in the collections of the likes of Proenza Schouler, Hervé Léger and Fendi for this Winter- a push for the comfortable to be made acceptable to rock up for dinner in.

Denim x 2

Denim is possibly the most integral part of everyone’s capsule wardrobe, but rarely is more than one item worn at a time. Ditch the rules and double up on the denim, but maybe stick with the notion “two’s company, three’s a crowd” on that front!

bring it back

This past year has seen a noddy dog style nod (that is to say, a very enthusiastic nod) to previous eras. As we all know, fashion is cyclical and this year the fashion superiors have reigned on bringing back ALL of the previous decades fashion. This Autumn we’re teaming our organised geometric style prints in colours of blue, brown. orange and cream with a set of exaggerated flicking curtain bangs and shed loads of texture and volume. Channel your inner Farah Fawcett.

Modern Vintage

We don’t say this lightly, but this trend takes inspo from Downtown Abbey. Sheath gowns heavy on the embellishment front, a touch of the 1920’s, úber regal. Sheer material? Check. Lace? Check. An absolute shed load of embellishment? CHECK. See inspiration from Paco Rabanne at PFW 2021, and THAT Balmain collection in 2015.

monochromatica

We love to see bold statements of colour or as we like to call it- solo-saturation- wearing the exact same tone head to toe, (and no black doesn’t count) is one of this seasons biggest fashion forward moves. We also love to see bold clashing colours, think rich purples against bright red. The wilder the better.

The classic trench

The trench coat. An absolute staple for the British fashionista, a coat designed with the ever-changing British weather in mind. The perfect over coat for those days when “you just don’t know what to put over the top of your outfit!”

CHEERLEADER TURNS ROCK

Taking inspiration from the likes of Megan Fox and KK who seem to have overnight ramped it up from Baby Spice to Scary Spice (in all the right ways), we couldn’t be digging their new look more. We’re talking leather, sheer, skin-baring cut outs with just an edge of rock glam. And if we’re being honest, does leather ever really go out of style? We. Think. Not.
