Hair Extensions Cheltenham: What You Need To Know

Whether you're looking to add length, volume, or simply fill in a few spots, hair extensions can be an amazing way to achieve your dream hair. But with so many options available, it can be tricky to know which ones will be right for you and what you can expect from the outcome, cost and maintenance!

That's why we asked our Cheltenham hair salon for their personal and professional recommendations.

Consultation

Before your appointment, you'll meet with one of our hair extension specialists for a Hair ID consultation! Here they'll assess your hair type, eye colour, skin tone, and more to determine the perfect extensions, colour and cut for you. From tapes to nano bonds, they'll talk you through all the options to find the ideal fit for your hair and lifestyle. You can also check out our short hair extensions guide.

Appointment

  • Hair Preparation: Your stylist will wash and prepare your hair, using a double clarifying shampoo process to remove any product build-up.

  • Colouring: If you are having your hair coloured, your stylist will do this here!

  • Extension Application: Hair extension application time varies depending on the type of extensions. Tape extensions typically take 1-1.5 hours to apply, while individually bonded hair extensions usually take 2-3 hours.

  • Cutting and Styling: Once your hair extensions are fitted, your stylist will cut and style your hair to blend the extensions with your natural hair.

Cost Breakdown

  • Stylist application time: £70-100 per hour (depending on the stylist)

  • Tapes: £300-500

  • Individuals: £500+

  • Cutting and styling: additional cost (depending on the stylist)

Want to split the cost of your Extension Appointment? We now offer Klarna, a flexible payment option that allows you to spread the cost over 3 interest-free instalments or pay later in 30 days.

Maintenance

Did you know that with the right maintenance, hair extensions can last for 6-9 months!? Here are some tips:

  • Use sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner. As sulphates can strip the oils and moisture from your hair extensions, making them dry, brittle, and prone to breakage. We recommend the Pureology range, which is available to purchase in all Blushes salons.

  • Beauty Works aftercare range is specifically designed to nourish and protect hair extensions which will help with the longevity. (You’ll find these available in salon soon!)

  • When it comes to drying your hair extensions, always make sure to fully dry the bonds and never leave your hair to fully dry naturally.

  • Always ensure to dry your hair to about 75% before combing through, and if possible use a gentle bristle brush and start by detangling the ends before working your way up the hair.

  • Reapply tape extensions every 6-8 weeks. This will help to keep your extensions secure and prevent them from slipping out.

  • Have your hair extensions trimmed regularly and maintenance-checked.
