In the Press: HJ - The Best Hair Looks from The Brits

From our Marketing Director, Gee, on the best looks from The Brits, as seen in Hairdressers Journal

The ongoing, post-lockdown paradigm of ‘Effortless vs Extravagance’ is showing up everywhere. Fashion Week, award ceremonies, Instagram and in salons everywhere. The desire to dress up and feel intrinsically great about ourselves is so evident yet there’s this minimalist wave of natural hair and beauty that’s not slowing down and the BRIT awards 2022 showcased just that.

“Olivia nailed effortless glamour – she followed the new wave natural trend with a paired back makeup look and beautifully, tousled locks – serving up the effortless everyday hairstyle so many of us are loving right now,” says Georgia. “Like that wasn’t enough – her beautiful, mirror dress from Alexander Vauthier’s Spring 2022 collection really brought the sparkle we expect and love to see from a red-carpet event.”

“If sleek and sultry was the brief, Maya Jama understood the assignment. Her long, glossy locks gave us a look reminiscent of fashion icon Cher. Eye-catching, but not to steal from her risqué, figure-hugging LBD with cut-outs by Mônot,” says Georgia. And look at that shine!

“No one does old Hollywood glamour like Adele. Over the years, Adele’s iconic, bouncy blow dries remain totally timeless and last night was no different. Dressed in a custom Armani Privé gown, her look was every bit the classic romantic style that we adore from red carpet events,” says Georgia.

“Whilst her twists were very simply accessorised, Little Simz’ Gucci suit worn during her performance was the balance of androgyny and extravagance in perfect form. This artist is renowned for her rule-breaking red carpet looks and slick, suit styling,” says Georgia.

“Vicky McClure’s crop hairstyle is everything we adore from the ’90s Diana era – it’s textured, tonal and natural,” says Georgia. “It really plays into the simplicity and elegance of her overall look from Azzi & Osta.”
