The Gel Edit at Blushes Cheltenham

Joining us in Blushes Cheltenham on the 12th of October is Issy at The Gel Edit, having been a part-time Nail Technician for the last 18 months she’s decided to take the plunge become our first Beauty Co-worker and pursue her dream!

The Gel Edit will be offering manicures, Gel Manicures, BIAB and incredible nail artistry!

Before she joins us and as the temperatures begin to decrease and our hands become a little worse for wear, we asked Issy for her top Winter Nail & Hand care tips!

What is BIAB and how is it different to acrylic or regular gel?

BIAB is a range of strengthening base gels that can be used on their own or with a gel colour applied on top to create your desired look. It helps clients maintain their natural nail length whilst increasing strength, meaning healthier and longer nails. BIAB can be infilled or soaked off depending on each clients preference. BIAB is often preferred compared to acrylic as it isn’t as heavy on your natural nail, meaning you can still achieve the length like you would with acrylic but you are still keeping your natural nail healthy without weakening them in the process. BIAB has also become much more popular than a regular gel mani due to it’s long lasting results and growth benefits!

My cuticles get super cracked in the autumn, is there anything I can do myself to help prevent?

Cuticle oil! This is recommended to be used daily and will nourish your nails helping them maintain moisture increasing the quality and strength of your nails. Resulting in longer lasting manicures! These can be purchased from myself, in a range of different scents.

What would you recommend as the best cold weather hand cream?

I would recommend The White Company hand and nail creams which include Shea butter and almond oils. My favourite scent is Seychelles and a favourite amongst my clients!

what are the nail trends for A/W?

Coming into A/W I expect to see tortoiseshell designs and deeper shades, brown seems to be a very popular choice so far this year, along with subtle chrome nails and classic French manicures. Also anything with a touch of gold!

“Seeing my clients nail ideas come to life is so rewarding and I love being able to create beautiful nails whilst getting to know my clients!”

Head over to Blushes Cheltenham to meet Issy and the rest of the Cheltenham salon team.
