Gloucester salon wins prestigious hairdressing award at the 2016 L’ORÉAL colour awards grand final
On Monday 13th June, 2016 the salons creative 6-month journey came to a dramatic finale at the O2 Intercontinental Hotel, London. Blushes Hairdressing Gloucester will now take their new title onwards and upwards into an exciting year ahead.
Over 1500 of the hairdressing industries most acclaimed and famous figures filled the dazzling venue with immense applause as Blushes Hairdressing Gloucester rushed to the stage to collect their iconic award. TV & Radio Presenter Nick Grimshaw and Steve Rowbottom from Westrow handed the team their award during a moment they will never forget.

The team from Blushes Hairdressing Gloucester created a fashion focused model look that took the judging panel by storm and ensured them a prominent place amongst the 36 grand finalists from across the UK.
The journey for Blushes Hairdressing Gloucester began back in January when, filled with hope and determination they entered their photographic image in to the first round of this iconic competition. Their stunning model look stood out amongst over 1000 entries and secured them a place in the second round – the Live Regional finals held in nine locations across the UK. Competing against 35 other teams in the South West region, the team once again impressed the judges with their hairdressing skills and won one of only 4 places at the Grand Final.
During the intense grand final competition day held at the L’Oréal International Academy tension built as an elite panel of highly successful, world renowned hairdressers were brought in to ensure each model infused the three elements of a precision cut, flawless looking colour and catwalk inspired styling. The judges, leaders in the industry, included: Issie Churcher from HOB, Steve Rowbottom from Westrow, Paul Dennison from Ken Picton, Errol Douglas MBE, Richard Ward and Adam Reed from Percy & Reed who were given the task of selecting the winner from the final 36 finalists.
After the tough judging process each perfectly styled model and nervous team were taken over to the O2 Intercontinental Hotel, London where Blushes Hairdressing Gloucester was about to experience the most memorable moment in their career.
The 2016 L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final took place at the O2 Intercontinental Hotel, London where the glamorous event was brought to a tremendous close as Blushes Hairdressing Gloucester was announced winners of the South West region and presented their award by judge Adam Reed of Percy & Reed. The team didn’t stay in their seat long before their names were called out again having narrowly missed out on the top spot to win 3rd place overall in the 2016 L’Oréal Colour Trophy. Considering that nearly 1000 hairdressers from across the UK entered these awards, the achievement of the salon is incredible.
The esteemed judging panel each agreed that Blushes Hairdressing Gloucester had perfectly met the brief, the model look was a fantastic example of beautifully executed colour and demonstrated a clear understanding of the latest trends.

Blushes Team members had a great night out in London at the Loreal Colour Trophy the UK’s biggest Hair Competition. Lottie Davies Won “Young Colourist of the year” & Rob Hicks was “Runner up in the Men’s Image of the Year” sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel “Blushes employ extraordinary people – Not Ordinary people!”
Blushes Salon wins 2 places in the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Grand Final 2015
BLUSHES are on a high after BOTH their teams from their Gloucester and their Cheltenham salon won two of only 4 coveted places in the Western Heat of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Award 2015. The teams fought off strong competition and wowed a panel of high-profile award winning judges with their Autumn/Winter 2015/16 fashion inspired looks. The teams will now have to go head to head to compete at the Grand Final event which could see one of them winning one of the coveted L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2015
Last night at The Western Regional Final, held at Chateau Impney, Regent Exhibition Centre in Droitwich, The team from the Gloucester salon, lead by Cheryl Oakey and the team from Cheltenham salon lead by Lottie Davis had only 30 minutes to create their fashion inspired, flawless winning looks under the gaze of the elite group of accomplished judges, the team were up against 58 other salons in the inspiring, high energy regional final.
“This is really amazing, it was such a surreal experience on the night. Cheltenham’s name was called first and obviously everyone was delighted for the team, but the Gloucester team were also disappointed as we all thought that we wouldn’t get both teams through. Then as they called out our name again – I think we all just erupted – there are certainly a lot of sore throats here this morning. Celebrity presenter, the gorgeous Lilah Parsons hosted the event leading competitors through the competition and introducing an inspiring hair show, by Sally & Jamie Brooks of Brooks+Brooks, London and culminating with the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Regional awards ceremony to name the salons progressing to the Grand Final.
Across 2 weeks in April, the L’Oréal Colour Trophy tour hit 7 UK cities rubbing shoulders with some of the industry’s talented salons. The competitors continue to help to make the L’Oréal Colour Trophy the longest running live hairdressing competition in the world. Now, over 900 entries and 500 regional finalists later, BLUSHES have won 2 places alongside just 46 nationwide salons to secure a place in the Grand Final.
On Monday 1st June at the stunning London venue Battersea Evolution, BLUSHES will be in the unique position of having two chances at winning the famed 60th L’Oréal Colour Trophy. The Grand Final show promises a thrilling and inspirational evening featuring spectacular hair shows by some of the industry’s most illustrious names in hairdressing.
The overall winners of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy will pick up a once-in-a-lifetime prize package which includes a 3 day European trip with a photo shoot to showcase their winning look, a fashion shoot with a leading consumer glossy magazine and a comprehensive personalised plan to promote the salons win PLUS endless PR opportunities throughout their winning year!
